Fabbri’s Early Beginnings
Leonardo Fabbri’s career began at just 15 years old, when he won the Italian Cadet Track and Field Championships in 2012 in Jesolo. The following year, after moving into the youth category, he started receiving call-ups to the Italian youth national athletics team, securing third place in shot put at the 2013 EYOF in the Netherlands.
The Rise in Athletics
Fabbri’s rise unfolded across various national and international events. In 2014, he claimed three national titles in the youth category and competed in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, finishing seventh in shot put. His youth-level achievements also include a gold medal at the Mediterranean Under-23 Championships in 2018 and a silver medal at the European Under-23 Championships in 2019.

In 2017, Fabbri won his first medal at the Italian Indoor Championships, earning bronze in shot put. By 2018, he began receiving call-ups to the senior national team and won his first national indoor title. In 2020, he set the Italian indoor record with a throw of 21.59 meters in Stockholm, surpassing Alessandro Andrei’s previous record. He continued to improve, reaching a distance of 21.99 meters in 2020 and setting a new personal best of 22.34 meters at the World Championships in Budapest in 2023, where he earned a silver medal.
